100 words

Writing to a word count. Maybe easy. Maybe difficult. It’s something worth trying anyway. Here’s a story in 100 words…

Your Kombi was clunky
It was also white, sort of a worn white
And it made that sound
That only those who have owned an old Kombi will know.

It purred along the backroad that day
Heading for Tyalgum
Near where we were to visit friends
Our stuff stowed haphazardly in the back.

We now travel other roads
Away from the city
Into the countryside that you love so much.

Your Kombi eventually died
Unlike our friendship
That had endured.
And we still travel roads
Roads different to that leading into Tyalgum
Roads in other places
And roads in life.
